Stonea has produced stone (flint) tools from as far back as 10,000 years ago dating from the Palaeolithic, Mesolithic, Neolithic and Bronze Ages. In addition Neolithic pottery was found beneath a Bronze Age barrow, which lies to the east of Stonea Camp.
